The Mystery of the Venus of Mierlo
The Venus van Mierlo, also known as the Little Dancer of Geldrop, is the oldest human representation in Brabant history. This cycle route takes you past various places that have something to tell about Venus.
In fact, it is even said to be the oldest expression of art ever found in the Netherlands. The Venus is a woman, drawn with sharp lines or rather, scratched in a stone. The stone was excavated in 1961 and after investigation, it turned out to have been left at that spot some thirteen thousand years ago. And that is officially just in Geldrop, hence the double name.

This way you soon arrive in a wooded area with three pools, where the stone is said to have been found. But other locations with a history have also been given a role in this cycling route, such as the Geboortebos, which was opened by the princesses Laurentien, Marilène and Annette who planted a Royal lime on one of the National Tree Holidays there. Can you find that lime tree? Enough mystery about the Venus.
