Kolisbos
Nature reserve the Kolisbos, in the municipality of Neerpelt, has a fun play area for children. Hours of
outdoor fun guaranteed! The Pierkespad also runs through the Kolisbos forest. This is a hiking trail
for kids with all kinds of experience elements to make the walk even more fun. And there is a Way of
Wheels, a wheelchair- and pram-friendly path through the forest.
Kolisheide
The Kolisbos forest used to be a vast heathland. But many years ago the heath was planted with
trees, mainly Scots pine, to produce timber. Since the 1980s efforts have been made to give the
forest a more natural character. A number of plots have been purchased by Natuurpunt.
A sand quarry is located in the western part of the Kolisbos forest. Through the forest runs the
Kolisloop (or Dorperloop) river, which flows from south to north and discharges into the Warmbeek.
